Our Story

Barrette Yacht Sales & Management is a small, family-owned business built on personal connection and trust. We believe yacht management should never feel transactional—our clients know who they’re working with, and we take pride in being a familiar, reliable presence. By putting a face to the name, we build genuine relationships and provide a level of care that larger firms simply can’t replicate.

About Ray

The 8-year-old version of me could often be found behind the helm of a 38 ft. Bayliner. Boating runs deep in my family. It's what my childhood was made up of and what I hope to pass on to my children as well. I grew up in the South Bay, where my family spent 90% of any free time I had taking trips from Redondo Beach over to Catalina. Half the time, I could be found down in the engine room, eager to learn, problem-solve, and fix anything and everything. In high school, my first job that I held down for years to come was at a marine hardware store, where I worked as an assistant mechanic. When I was 18-years-old, my dad entrusted me with the boat keys without blinking and allowed my college friends and me to use it as long as I kept his boat in its FINEST form, and trust me— I returned it to him cleaner and running smoother than when I originally boarded.

My wife often finds me nerding out and pouring over manuals and boat specs for random boats, much to her dismay —just for fun. Speaking of my wife, I met her while getting my BA in Business Administration at California State University, Channel Islands, 15 years ago. I joined the sailing team back then and became very well acquainted with both the Channel Islands & Ventura Harbor.

After college, I went on to get my MBA at the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics. I joined my father's commercial brokerage, Barrette Real Estate Investments.

My parents, David & Gail Barrette; my wife; our kids, Elliana (5) and Landen (10); and I belong to the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club and are looking forward to continuing to meet new families and create more memories there as well as in this amazing community.

About Anna

Hi! My name is Anna, and I am here to work toward providing the most seamless experience every step of the way for our very valued clients.

Boating has also been a part of my world since I was a child. I was almost 19 when Ray and I met and began our story. Boating was and continues to be a main theme in our relationship for the past almost two decades. Ray was and continues to be “that guy” who literally jumps ship many a time over in Catalina to help strangers with mooring, handling lines & whatever issues come up without a thought. It's in his nature. During family trips, Ray and his dad would geek out for hours on end to find things to fix or enhance.

The first time I introduced my parents to Ray was when they were interested in purchasing a 38 ft. Chris Craft. Ray honestly saved my parents a significant amount of money that day by easily identifying a ton of undisclosed issues. I am pretty sure this helped the beginnings of a great start to “meeting the parents.” I think his easygoing and kind temperament helped as well. Just meet him, and you will see! 🙂 I look forward to connecting. Never hesitate to reach out with any questions. (818) 731-2284
